HAND THERAPY PROGRAM

The H.A.N.D. Therapy Program will teach children and adults how to screen and train homeless animals to visit hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and schools. More than two decades of research focused on human-animal relationships has produced considerable evidence that pets add an important dimension to our lives. We know that pets help us with loneliness but they can do so much more such as help with stress and build self-esteem. Animals can also be a good conversation opener, which gives people something to talk about and open doors for you to help.Pet Therapy breaks through a reluctance to talk by providing a non-judgemental contact. Most of the time the people you are visiting just want a friend and what better way than with "Mans Best Friend".

The Education program will be led by volunteers to better educate the children to have respect, kindness, and compassion for all living things. We will also assist children in the understanding the difference between safe and potentially dangerous interactions with animals as well as teach how important it is to spay and neuter their animals. With the resources of ASPCA we will have education materials from work sheets to videos.
