The new owners must provide clean water and food daily for the animal.

The new owners must provide adequate shelter from the elements to the animal.

The new owners must provide a substantial fenced enclosure for the animal, and agree not to stake the animal out on a cable, rope or chain nor to let the animal roam freely.

The new owners must provide regular veterinary care, heartworm prevention and an acceptable type of flea/tick control.

If, for any reason, the new owners do not want/cannot keep the animal, they must return the animal to H.A.N.D. Foundation. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES is the animal to be taken to an animal shelter, humane society or euthanized without prior consent of a director of H.A.N.D. Foundation.

H.A.N.D. Foundation is not responsible for any action on the part of the animal once the adoptive family has taken possession of the animal.

PLEASE NOTE: There is an adoption donation required for each animal. This donation helps to cover the cost of medical and other expenses incurred by the animals in foster/rescue. Effective January 1, 2003, the standard adoption donation is $50. This donation is paid at the time of adoption and is held for a "trial period" of 1 weeks. If the animal does not adapt well to an adoptive home during this 1-week period, the adoption is refunded in full when the animal is returned to H.A.N.D..

ADDITIONALLY, all transportation is the responsibility of the new owners. While some of our foster parents are willing to drive partway to take a animal to his/her new home, they are not required to do so. Also, rescue transport groups (all volunteer) may assist, but the full responsibility of picking up your adopted animal falls to the new home. The cost of flights for animals is the responsibility of the adopting family.

Adoptions are decided by compatibility estimates, not "first come, first served". Our organization reserves the right to refuse any adoption applicant. H.A.N.D. reserves the right to remove a animal from an adoptive home should that home be determined unsuitable during a follow-up visit. If any of the conditions of the adoption agreement are not met or any portion of the adoption application falsified, it is the policy of H.A.N.D. to refuse an adoption application or remove the animal from the adoption home.
